Snow, Soap & Ooey Gooey Fudge

Oh, how the days go by! It seems like just yesterday that I updated and, alas, it's now February. Where in the world did January go?

So, I've been having contests with myself at night when I work. Slightly pathetic, I know, but true. I keep trying to beat the previous night's steps. Apparently, my self-imposed challenge has been paying off, because I got another one of those, "Hey, have you lost more weight? You look great!" comments this weekend. I love those. In fact, I love those so much it makes me want to celebrate. With cookies and brownies and ooey gooey fudge. Not to worry. I refrain from the self-indulgence and simply say thanks. But I think about it.

The soap is going well. Last night's lip balm review from the ladies at work was phenomenol! "You should sell this!" Um, yep, that's kind of the point, thanks. (Don't worry, I didn't say that. I just smiled. And thought about cookies. And ooey gooey fudge brownies.)

I'm also on Facebook these days. Under a name not formerly known as Prince. It's funny to see how we've all grown. It's even nicer to see how friends from kindergarten have remained the same. You know who you are and you know I adore you.

Okay, it's time to shovel or just play in the flurries with the kids. Good cardio, right? =)

Walking at Work

I bought myself a new pedometer yesterday, because the one I had kept resetting my steps every time I bumped it with my arm. Talk about frustrating.

So, yesterday I picked one up and decided to see just how many steps I actually take while working. Want to guess?

10,788 steps or 5.02 miles. From 5pm-8pm 5 nights a week. That explains a lot, huh?

I used to have a hard time even getting to 10,000 and now, wahoo! Almost 11K in 3 hours. I can't wait to wear it tonight and see if I can get to 12,000 steps.

How many steps to do you take in a day?

Let us know!

The Demise of the Pedometer Thermometer

Saturday morning my poor "pedometer thermometer" met its match. A flight of stairs and a bounce across a hardwood floor. So instead of being stuck on 00000 steps I think I need a new one.

(And to my husband, yes, I have the little red one, but the reset button is really raised so every time I swing my arm it resets the steps. Annoying and very difficult to count steps.)

The Pedometer Thermometer

Since the Family Circle Walking Challenge began on Monday I have been faithfully strapping on my pedometer each day to record my steps. My sons, being the ever so observant and inquisitive children that they are, inquired about it. The conversation went like this...

"Mommy, what is that thing you have on you?" (Son #2)

"It's a pedometer. It counts the steps I take, so that I make sure I'm getting enough exercise during the day." (Mom a.k.a. Me)

"Why do you wear it on your pants? Wouldn't it make more sense to wear it on your shoes?" (Son #1)

"Hmm...Well, I guess so, but this counts when my hip moves, I think, and that equals a step." (Mom)

"Aren't you worried it will count as two steps?" (Son #1)

"No, not really. Are you?" (Mom)

"Yeah." (Son #1)

"Why?" (Mom)

"Well, your hips are so big that the thermometer might think you're taking two steps instead of just one and then you wouldn't really be getting enough exercise." (Son #1) (And yes, he said "thermometer".)

"My hips are so big?" (Mom)

"Yeah, 'cause you're a lady. And sometimes ladies have, you know, like bigger hips than kids. 'Cause we're smaller." (Son #2)

"Uh-huh. Well, I'm pretty sure it's accurate, but thank you for your concern. Now, why don't you go play?" (Mom)
